Dr. Henry Lee is in charge of overall product security at Samsung Mobile and oversees governance, engineering and operations aspects of product security including security policy, vulnerability management, risk assessment, incident response, privacy, certification and compliance as well as security solutions development. He initiated the regular security update program at Samsung Mobile in collaboration with Google in 2015 and his team has been the major driving force of the security updates in the Android community. His team develops features and functions required by the Common Criteria so that all S and Note series devices are certified against protection profiles such as MDFPP and VPNPP. He and his team members represent Samsung Mobile at global standard organizations like FIDO, Global Platform and GSMA Security. Prior to joining Samsung Mobile, Dr. Lee served for the provincial government of British Columbia, Canada, on various positions, including Justice Sector Chief Information Security Officer, and in initiatives including the BC Services Card, Pan-Canadian strategy for identity management & authentication and the
government’s overall information security program. He taught information security at the University of Victoria between 2008 and 2014. Prior to the public sector career, he founded two technology startups specialized in information security. He participated in the development of the first commercial CDMA mobile communication system in early 1990’s in collaboration with Qualcomm. Dr. Lee has been developing his information security career in industry, public sector, and academia. He received a PhD in Computer Science (computer security specialization) from the University of Cambridge (UK).
