Dirk Backofen is the Tribe Lead Digital Identities of T-Systems International GmbH. In this role Dirk is accountable for the set-up of a new business area within Deutsche Telekom including all Identity technologies like EUDI-Wallet, eID, Smart eID and OIDC.
Dirk orchestrates all Telekom / T-Systems activities regarding the project “Eco-System of Digital Identities in Germany”. His current focus is laying on the development of an EUDI-Wallet with a maximum of implemented use cases to support the idea of a Public-Private-Partnership between the Federal Government of Germany and the economy to push a mass market breakthrough of secure Digital Identities in Germany.
Dirk is responsible for Telekom’s contribution in uses cases, architecture and in EUDI compatible ID-Wallet systems for the EU-Large Scale Pilots LSP I (Potential) and LSP II (We Build).
Dirk also represents Deutsche Telekom / T-Systems as board member in the shareholder board and in the supervisory board of Verimi. Dirk has developed the Business Model “Wallet as a Service” in which T-Systems and Verimi deliver the Sek-IPD for BARMER and AOK, an innovative cloud-based identity-solution based on Confidential Computing, HSM-Support and operator exclusion running in the Open Sovereign Cloud of T-Systems.
In 2016 Dirk Backofen successfully established the business unit Telekom Security – a startup within Deutsche Telekom AG. Dirk run this business until April 2020.
Dirk Backofen has a master’s degree in information technology (Technical University of Chemnitz (Germany)) and has been working for Deutsche Telekom since 1991.
Nach Inkrafttreten der neuen eIDAS Verordnung und während die zugehörigen Implementing Acts entstehen, haben in allen Mitgliedstaaten intensive Arbeiten an der Umsetzung der damit Verbundenen Verpflichtungen begonnen. Dies betrifft die Entwicklung eigener EUDI-Wallets, die Bereitstellung notwendiger Issuer, aber auch die Vorbereitung diverser Register auf den Zugriff durch Vertrauensdienste. In dieser Session sollen die Anbieter von EUDI-Wallets den Stand ihrer Entwicklung ca. 11 Monate vor dem Roll-Out vorstellen.
