Prof. Dr. Georg Sigl is Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied and Integrated Security AISEC in Munich and Professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where he holds the Chair of Security in Information Technology.
Prof. Georg Sigl received his doctorate from TUM in 1992 and subsequently worked in research and development at Siemens and Infineon. From 2000 to 2010, he led the development of secure smart card platforms. In 2010, he founded the Chair of Security in Information Technology at TUM, focusing on hardware and embedded systems security. At the chair and at Fraunhofer AISEC, his research includes secure implementations of cryptographic methods, secure authentication of hardware components, and protective measures against hardware attacks and hardware Trojans.
Since networkable electronic devices are increasingly being used in all markets, the EU COM would like to bring more IT security to the EU internal market with the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). The CE approval process is becoming more complex. Manufactures must take technical, organizational and legal measures and are required to report IT security vulnerabilities.
