At 3GSM 2006 in Barcelona, Oberthur Card Systems showcased the Smart Card Web Server implementation, which allowed SIM cards to host a web server, thereby enhancing the device interface when accessing SIM-based services. At the time, the application was ideally empowered by Oberthur Card Systems’ GIGAntIC card. Now and for the first time at 3GSM 2007, Oberthur Card Systems demonstrates this application on the SIMphonIC Advanced range (256K, 512K and more). This SIM card-embedded solution combines access to web services, rich multimedia content and the possibility to store data – bookmarks, logins and passwords. WebSIM offers the flexibility to remotely manage web pages post-issuance. Operators will use the WebSIM solution to change content, distribute advertisements and address specific content to dedicated and identified subscribers. Fundamentally, the SIMphonIC WebSIM solution enables operators to offer revenue generating services which are independent of the functionality of their subscribers’ handsets. “Pushed by its strong willingness to promote seamless 3G services, Oberthur Card Systems has developed WebSIM with a mobile and internet convergence mindset. Now browsing on the phone is as intuitive as browsing on a PC”, said Alain Jarre, Head of Mobile Marketing and Solutions at Oberthur Card Systems. “It is crucial for the migration towards high-end solutions in the mobile market that we offer state-of-the-art technology while combining an appealing look and feel with easy to use and easily deployable services.” s.cau@oberthurcs.com www.oberthurcs.com
