Any new technology implemented without the proper amount of testing will end in disaster. 10 years ago, UICCs, handsets and other mobile devices were already tested in terms of interoperability and functionality according to the latest specified standards on the Smart Card interface. However, at the time, there were only two SIM interface handset test specifications with a manageable amount of test cases. There was only one network standard (GSM). Tests only related to the ISO/IEC 7816 interface. Back then, all test cases had to be executed manually. Today we have a diversity of test specifications covering multiple technologies such as UMTS, LTE and NFC. The amount and the complexity of tests have been increasing steadily. Nowadays, automated smart test systems ease the work amount of the test operator immensely. Since its beginning, COMPRION has been a pioneer in providing conformance test systems.
