Eurosmart’s Chairman, Oyvind Rastad, welcomed this vote as a crucial step towards removing existing barriers to Europe’s digital development on the way to the single market, while ensuring the security of user data:
“The emphasis on existing standards will pave the way towards the interoperability of eIDAS models across Europe. Interoperability of cross-border services and transactions has long been a focus for many industries, especially for small and medium enterprises, as it will make cross-border electronic transactions easier and thus contribute to economic growth. Naturally, the Smart Security Industry will do everything in its power to provide standards for fast, easy and flexible ways of electronic transactions while at the same time implementing the highest security standards possible.”
