ICMA announces Board of Director Election Results

Tai Kyu Choi, chairman of KBC Corporation, was elected as president of ICMA. A 32-year card industry veteran, Choi established KBC Corporation in 1971 and is involved in the company’s overall management and new business strategic planning. Based in Seoul, KBC currently has the largest market share in Korea’s domestic card manufacturing market, providing total smart card solutions (manufacturing, personalization and mailing) and holding certification from Visa, MasterCard, JBC and other leading issuers. A charter member of ICMA and former vice president, Choi has been instrumental in establishing ICMA’s rapidly growing presence in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, Herbert Grün was elected vice president of ICMA. He has chaired and presented several ICMA workshops, and continues to play an integral role in expanding the association’s membership on a global level. Currently, Grün serves as the director of engineering solutions for Giesecke & Devrient GmbH (G&D), a leading manufacturer of microchip and security cards for diverse secure and non-secure applications. Joining the ICMA Board, as an associate member representative, is Bill Knotts. A long-time member and supporter of ICMA, Knotts is president of Spartanics, which this year celebrated its 40th business anniversary. The company is headquartered in Rolling Meadows, Illinois and manufactures a wide range of equipment used today by card manufacturers for counting, inspection and punching. Knotts also writes a business advisory column for ICMA’s Card Manufacturing magazine. Each ICMA Board member will serve a two year term, effective immediately. LMcCullough@icma.com www.icma.com
