There are several key benefits of the SLE 66PE family for payment cards, including the combination of comprehensive security, global interoperability, high speed and low power consumption. Contactless applications, including the MasterCard PayPass, the VISA Contactless programs and J/Speedy, the scheme of the global payment brand JCB, benefit from the SLE 66PE family’s high transaction performance and complete range of standardized interface options, and Infineon’s active contributions in contactless payment standardization and specification committees. The enhanced operating speed of up to 848 kbit/s according to ISO/IEC 14443 for communicating with reader devices sets new benchmarks in terms of transaction speed, as this is twice the rate of today’s typical transaction. Also, the SLE 66PE family offers the complete range of contactless proximity interfaces on one chip, including ISO/IEC 14443 Type B and Type A, with optional ISO/IEC 18092 passive mode, and features Mifare® emulation. The SLE 66CL(X)xxxPE(M) products offer EEPROM memory capacities ranging from 4KB (kilobytes) to 80KB, ROM ranging from 92KB to 240KB, and RAM ranging from 2KB to 6KB. The security microcontroller concept is designed for dual-interface and contactless single-/multi-application cards with 3DES (Triple Data Encryption Standard) and PKI (Private Key Infrastructure) capabilities, used in e-payment, identification and transportation applications. monika.sonntag@infineon.com www.infineon.com/security www.emvco.com
