Windows Vista integrates functions dedicated to smart-card management, such as Smart Card Base CSP and Smart Card KSP. The link between Windows Vista and the smart card must be provided by a mini-driver (middleware) designed to Microsoft specifications. Compliance of mini-drivers with Microsoft specifications is validated through the Windows Smartcard Framework Certification Program. Oberthur Card Systems worked in close liaison with the Microsoft test center based in Dublin, Ireland throughout the “Logo Ready” pilot phase of this program. The ID-One Classic smart card offers to its users the following services: • Reinforcement of security when connecting to a private network or a website, because two factors – the smart card and a password – are mandatory to be authenticated. • Increased confidentiality of exchanges thanks to the possibility of coding e-mails using the cryptographic keys contained in the card. • Officialization of electronic documents thanks to the possibility of signature using the certificates contained in the card. s.cau@oberthurcs.com www.oberthurcs.com
