Oberthur Technologies’ multifunction operating system will equip new electronic driving licenses

For the launch of the new electronic French driving license, OT delivers the operating system embedded in each driving license. Based on its qualified technology, this high-end quality solution – the digital core of the new credential – is only readable by the state security forces.

France is recognized as one of the most protected countries regarding identity document protection and, thanks to OT’s high expertise, more than three million driving licenses will be manufactured, personalised and sent directly to citizens as from this year. Faced with increasing identity fraud and impersonation, OT’s comprehensive range of electronic credentials allows end-users to securely authenticate and authorities to reduce fraud while protecting citizens’ personal information.

As a main partner of French State Printing Group, Oberthur Technologies confirms its leading position in secured identity solutions. OT’s dedicated multifunction operating system covers the whole range of applications for credentials: electronic passports, driving licenses, resident permits, civil servants cards for the public sector and cards for the private sector, healthcare cards for professionals amongst others.

“Agence Nationale des Titres Sécurisés appreciates working closely with OT, for the implementation of European standards such as the IAS ECC standard (particularly for civil servants electronic identity cards). Agence Nationale des Titres Sécurisés also appreciates the quality of the components used for the manufacturing passports, driving licences and civil servants cards. We are delighted we can count on the support of OT as a quality partner” said Etienne Guepratte, Director of Agence Nationale des Titres Sécurisés.

“OT is delighted to be a trusted partner for French State Printing Group and to have ANTS’s trust. Thanks to these long-lasting partnerships, Oberthur Technologies reinforces its leading position on the Identity market in France. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Agence Nationale des Titres Sécurisés and the French State Printing Group to take part in their future projects and offer them the best technology to improve secure identity credentials, their usage and the French citizens’ security” said Olivier Prestel, Managing Director of the Identity Business Unit at OT.
