At its quarterly meetings the Near Field Club provides members and guests with a regular opportunity to understand the how, when, where and what of Near Field Communication (NFC). Not only can they learn more about the underlying technology and its applications, they can also hear from leading specialists in related fields and enjoy networking in a pleasant and non-sales environment.
Tim Jefferson brings to the role a wealth of experience in the global NFC and mobile worlds and is widely respected as a thought leader in contactless technology. He is well-known throughout the industry for his work chairing, facilitating and speaking at major mobile, wireless, payment and hospitality events. “Chairing the Near Field Club is a great opportunity to learn more and network with peers to help The Human Chain to build its position in the NFC market,” says Tim.

Over the next 12 months, the Near Field Club’s meetings and its dedicated website will cover a host of topics, from security, form factors and standards to operational issues and applications. There will also be insights into mobile network operators and handset manufacturers’ plans for NFC; the business case for and challenges to NFC; the role of Google, Facebook, PayPal and Apple; plus merchant and customer perspectives on the technology.
The get-togethers are a mix of news, education and networking where members can share their experiences in a friendly and convivial atmosphere, a style of meeting established by Smartex that has proved so successful over the past two decades.
